Team channels
Sound, Media, Ushers and an all-hands channel. History is saved on the host, with unread badges and search.
Chat and voice for your event crew
Team channels, voice rooms and leader alerts for everyone in the building. One laptop runs Proxima; phones and laptops join from the browser. No internet, no accounts, no cloud.
Features
Sound, Media, Ushers and an all-hands channel. History is saved on the host, with unread badges and search.
Each team gets a voice room. Audio goes straight between devices, with mute and your choice of mic and speaker.
Hosts and leaders send a full-screen alert with a chime. Everyone taps Got it, and the sender sees who hasn't.
Call anyone online from People or search. It rings for 30 seconds, then leaves a missed call with Call back.
Share stage plots, run sheets and slides up to 50 MB. Files stay on the host, and leaders join with a PIN, not an account.
Add Proxima to the home screen on iPhone and Android and get notifications while it's in the background.
How it works
Start Proxima on a laptop connected to the venue network. The terminal prints an address for every network it's on.
Each device opens the /trust page, checks the fingerprint against the host's terminal, and follows the steps for its system.
Share the event link. People pick their name and team; leaders add the PIN. Voice, alerts and notifications work over HTTPS.
Stays in the room
Messages are stored in a SQLite file on the host. Voice goes directly between devices; the host only relays the handshake that connects them. HTTPS comes from Proxima's own certificate authority, which can only sign private addresses. When the Wi‑Fi is up, Proxima works, whether or not the venue has internet.
Run it
You need Node.js 22 and pnpm on the machine that runs Proxima. Everyone else only needs a browser. Full setup notes are in the README.
Coming next: walkie channels.
pnpm install
pnpm db:migrate # creates the database
pnpm cert # once: local HTTPS for phones
pnpm dev # https://<host-ip>:4111
